New Year, New Blog
Committing to making blogging a regular part of my routine.
Blogging has always been something I’ve wanted to make work, but despite my best efforts, I’ve struggled to stick with it. I have several ideas for indie-hacking projects and financial pursuits that I want to document, so I’ve decided it’s finally time to commit and simplify.
My track record with blogging isn’t great. I’ve started blogs multiple times but stopped shortly after launching them. Looking back, I realize this happened because I focused on the wrong things. As a web developer, I love experimenting with new tools and frameworks. I’d spend hours designing layouts and optimizing plugins—but I rarely got around to posting. The truth is, putting yourself out there is intimidating.
This year, I’m taking a different approach. I’m excited about the things I’m working on, and I want to document that journey in a way that’s engaging, educational, and hopefully inspirational for others. To make that happen, I need to simplify the process and focus on what truly matters: the content and connecting with readers.
So what does that look like? It means moving off my current Astro blog and onto a platform that allows me to get started quickly, eliminates coding distractions, and emphasizes growth and readership. I evaluated many options but ultimately decided on Beehiiv. I still love Static Site Generators, but I don’t want to spend time configuring everything.
Beehiiv is a combined blog and newsletter platform that lets me post once and reach readers both on the web and in their inboxes. It’s designed to minimize setup and maximize growth. While it allows for customization, its standard interface lets me focus on what really matters: posting content.
Here’s what success looks like for me:
Consistency: Posting at least 24 articles by the end of this year.
Community Building & Marketing: Building an audience of engaged readers who not only benefit from the content I share but are also interested in the apps and projects I’m developing.
Thanks for reading! if you’re on a similar journey or exploring blogging, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s build something great together.
